Working in pairs or teams, stay fit by
playing games. Program directors and professional fitness instructors
will learn how working interactively can increase the social dimension
of your senior exercise program while promoting participant safety and
playfulness. Using a variety of equipment, such as balls and resistance
tubing, develop a program that builds strength, balance, and cardiovascular
fitnes in a supportive game atmosphere.
2 Hour Workshop
It is estimated that one in two women over the age of 50 will have
an osteoporosis related fracture in her lifetime. Your members and clients
with osteoporosis may wonder if yoga is an appropriate exercise for them
and how to participate safely. This workshop explores some of the special
yoga program requirements relating to osteoporosis, as well as appropriate
postures to implement those requirements. Most importantly, learn what
you should not be doing with this population. Learn
how the correct selection of postures, attention to proper progression
and sequence will ensure safe, effective yoga classes to improve the
quality of life for your students with osteoporosis.

The benefits of yoga are numerous and rewarding, especially for active
seniors. This workshop will explore many special requirements of yoga
programs for seniors, including common physical conditions among seniors,
and appropriate postures to address those conditions. Learn how attention
to the proper sequence and progression will ensure safe, mentally and
physically stimulating yoga classes to improve the quality of life for
your active senior market.
2 Hour CEC Workshop
It’s a non-competitive outdoor adventure that delivers
a workout while you play. Handheld GPS navigation, brainteasers physical
challenges and teamwork are combined in this innovative new outdoor game
using the Global Positioning System. Search for clues, solve the puzzles
and discover the precise coordinates of a hidden container, then find
it with a handheld GPS (global positioning system) receiver, logic, and
as much muscle power as it takes. Team up with fellow players to develop
winning strategies and overcome “Special Tests” designed
to challenge both brain and body. GPS receivers are provided. No advanced
skill is required. Come prepared for fun.
Workshop or Special Event
Adventure racing is a non-stop sport of navigation, strategy
and endurance with a special emphasis on speed and teamwork. This workshop
lets you experience this exciting new outdoor game in a "compacted" format.
Real Adventure Races can take hours or even days to complete. Use GPS
(global positioning system) to identify and find hidden stations as you
reveal clues, solve puzzles and team up to develop winning strategies
and overcome unique "Special Tests" designed to challenge both

Vini, Ashtanga, Bikram, Kundalini! Whatever happened to plain old yoga? Considering that there are over 800 documented yoga styles, you have many reasons to be confused. In this workshop, yoga instructor Leigh Crews will provide a framework and a sampling of major yoga formats to sort it all out. Working along a continuum from Power Yoga, to Iyengar, to Yin, Leigh will show you the key differences and commonalities along with discussion of other styles that fall somewhere in between. Instructor Certification This AFPA certification program trains
participants to create dynamic, user-friendly, group fitness yoga classes. The
program addresses correct postural execution, transitions and modifications
of poses. Learn the techniques of class design, skills to communicate the mind/body
connection, and safe teaching methods. This certification program is structured
for beginners teaching yoga, practicing yoga, and learning yoga. Experienced
Yoga instructors will benefit form this workshop as it will offer new skills
to teach in health clubs and the gym environment. There are no prerequisites.
